Today I tried the 2011 raw pu’er, the competition grade Jin Jun Mei, and the Pure Bud Bi Luo Chun. Favorite of the three was definitely the bi luo chun, which surprised me because I recently had a different Jin Jun Mei that blew me out of the water, and this one is so different in flavor

I only have two more of the oolongs from Old Ways Tea that I ordered left to sample. The thing I’ve learned from this sample box, which all came from the same mountain, is that location has a very strong impact on flavor. Most of these teas taste 80% similar, with minor variations in notes

I’m getting a bunch of new tea samples in the mail tomorrow from Yunnan Sourcing, very exciting! Most of them will be black teas 红茶 and dark teas 黑茶. Stay tuned Wednesday to find out more!

Today’s teas are all oolongs, and first up is the yellow bag of 水仙 / shui xian

First up was the Da Hong Pao, and its flavor is sublime. 9/10
