Eclectic, curious and life-long learner. Favourite epitaph: ‘Under this sod lies another”
Offered on Spotify. Must be an NRA-inspired remake. Not at all the same film I fear #humour #englishlanguage

Measles has one of the highest basic reproduction numbers (R₀) of any disease (12 to 18), meaning one infected person can spread it to 12 to 18 others in a fully susceptible population, making it extremely contagious. Need 95% vaccination status to achieve herd immunity. Get vaccinated!!

Amid multiple national crises, Trump spent Thursday morning posting—not for the first time—about how his predecessor Barack Obama should be arrested, and how Georgia election workers should be prosecuted.

The Trump Administration wants your DNA and social media
Yesterday the Trump Administration announced a proposed change in policy for travellers to the U.S. It applies to the powers of data collection by the Customs and Border Police (CBP).

Why doesn’t the Pirate of the Caribbean know that 250 years ago some boat loads of religious dissidents landed in North America and founded the US? If it’s good enough for the US it was good enough for Greenland 800 years earlier.

Great Christmas episode. The segment on music hit me thinking. What are the country differences? Surely not everyone is paying Noddy Holder’s pension? Do the 70s & 80s dominate elsewhere?

Part of the mystery solved. A while back in May the drain cover kept being moved some feet away overnight. Put a brick in it and the cover got moved again. Only when I placed a much heavier roof tile did it stop. What is it doing though? #badger #wildlife #uk #mammal #unexpectedbehaviour

Pretty shocking. In the uk there is no testing / screening for lead poisoning (unlike US), no reqt to inform warn of affected land, properties. Flooding spreads it. And no appetite to quantify or change #podcast #polution #environment #uk #health #legislation

You can’t beat this greeting for the new day. The semi-resident Greylag and Canada geese who visit around dawn and before dusk every day. Each day they choose a different part of the field to graze. And then one of them decides it’s time to move on… #geese #birds #cambridgeshire #uk #wildlife

Spotted this in Lyon. Is this a water fountain for dogs? Looks to be a bowl-like receptacle underneath tap.

Saw some disturbance on the pond surface. Then a head moving from side to side surveying the surface. Had to approach from behind and downwind since grass snakes are very shy. Apart from accidental surprises - the last in amongst the rhubarb - I’ve never managed to get so close. #uk #reptile #snake

Tiny Mint Moth. Unsurprisingly near some mint. Never knew of such things. I suspect that all too often we are completely unaware of what is in our vicinity. Insects never get much good PR or care because they’re not photogenic. #moth #wildlife #insect
