More Nutmeg on the table
November 22, 2025 at 7:26 PM
Here’s the recipe, hopefully the photo/alt text comes through.

You have to eat them right away, which is the downside for a Thanksgiving side. But they’re worth it.

Why won’t you play with me, says Nutmeg the dog to Rafaella the cat

this is for the soon-to-be-buddy of Nutmeg (see below). Also a leonberger.

We're ... making choices, here.

We're doing what, now??

"We’re ending the war on saturated fats in this country. So, we’re going to publish dietary guidelines that are going to stress the importance of protein and saturated fats."

Sunset!

So pretty!

You get to drive around through dawn for hours, mid-day.

Which makes up in part for the fact that…the sun is not coming up until mid-day.

Oooh, neat! My art submission has been accepted to the Bridges Math Art show at the joint math meetings!

It’s like I’m becoming an artist or something!

Fairbanks is so darn pretty in the winter.

Even the power plant exhaust is pretty!

It’s not even close to 20 below.

Still there, although hard to see because of everyone’s bright outside lights.

In contrast to everyone’s recent aurora photos, here’s what I’ve seen so far tonight. Apparently there was a good display earlier but I missed it.

Not nothing, but not spectacular

I’ve used a bike wheel for string stuff, but it’s not nearly enough holes for good string art of the cardioid-type. Even 100 holes is not really enough, as I recall.

I love the Alaska tax. 😠

Is it $1 per case of kidney care cat food, or $1 per can in the case? Who knows!

(it was $1 per case. And $2.29 tax. Still a lot cheaper than buying at the vet's.)

(Man, pets are spendy.)

Why yes, I am eating snow off the porch table!

Just in case you wanted to know how many hours of daylight we're getting up here at latitude 65

About 7 hours right now, but we're still losing about 6.5 minutes a day. Which is a lot.

Apparently the sun will get up to 8° above the horizon at solar noon.

Such interesting stuff!

"[Trump's]presidencies have seen easily the highest percentage of shut-down days, with 1 out of every 23 days he's been president being one where the government was closed. The runner-up is Clinton, whose two terms saw the government shutdown for 1 out of every 108 days."

I’m sitting at just under 6F here near Geist. Looks like this is the lowest temp so far here.

Today at the grocery store, a notice about the shortage of pennies cause by ceasing to mint pennies.

The only notice of how they were actually going to handle things was a tiny note taped to the back of the register that the cashier was unaware of. (Apparently the computer tells them the change)
