One of the things that...must be renewed every year...is veterans’ benefits, and yesterday Jeff Schogol of Task and Purpose noted “a growing chorus” calling for cuts to Veterans Affairs disability benefits after The Economist...called (them) “absurdly generous.”

I’m back on @Salon talking about the discourse around Nessarose and how, in Part One of the Wicked movie at least, I was happy. #filmsky

Is Nessarose a huge win for "Wicked"? It's complicated
Marissa Bode's casting is groundbreaking and deserving of celebration. The role itself, however, comes with caveats

I have standards of the people with whom I work that it isn’t ok to be rude, or to expect no consequences for poor behavior, whether living with a disability or not. It’s an uphill battle-even some of my coworkers don’t bother. It’s easier to say nothing.

Healthcare companies literally monetize death, disability, illness etc. How about those rules apply to them?
We can all hate insurance companies without cheering the murder of someone or worse, trying to monetize content about that murder.

Really gross day on the internet today.

Are they pro-cutting disability services?

Are they cutting special education?

It’s time disability reform became an election priority
The language of ‘inclusion’ and ‘potential’, so often used in disability policy may appear positive, but it masks a deeply ableist worldview.

In this quote, Stephen Hawking reflects on the challenges and achievements of his life, demonstrating his resilience and determination in the face of motor neurone disease (ALS). Despite the severe physical limitations imposed by his condition, which left him almost completely paralyzed, Hawking’s statement emphasizes his refusal to be defined by his disability. Disability can often be seen as a barrier, but Hawking’s words underscore his belief that one’s spirit, intellect, and determination can transcend such physical constraints. This mindset allowed him to continue his groundbreaking work in theoretical physics while living a life full of adventure and exploration.
