We had a visitor this morning on the wall of the East portale of our house- a tarantula. We see them occasionally in the Fall when they are out looking for a mate.

We must be getting into Fall in NM. I can hear a chainsaw running as someone works to get their winter wood supply filled out. Soon, we will begin to get cooler weather and the cottonwoods down in the Bosque will begin to show the first of their golden fall leaves.

Gold Star Chilrdren's Day is August 1, 2025. If you know a Gold Star Child (a child who lost a father or mother in a military conflict), give them an extra hug on August 1st! It is something you carry with you your whole life and while the pain never really goes away, you do learn to deal with it.

We are in the summer doldrums here in NM. It is hot (100+ by late afternoon and a couple of forest fires to our north are making the air outside very smokey. Too much smoke to open the windows in the evenings so we suffer in a sultry house. Rain is forecast tomorrow and that will bring relief.

Same as always, our house will be decorated in observance of Memorial Day. And, yes, we are a Gold Star Family, having a lost a family member to enemy action in combat. Honor them all with us this Memorial Day weekend.

TGIF from northern New Mexico! One of the 2 major rivers in NM is the Chama which flows south from the CO Rockies, eventually joining the Rio Grande just north of Espanola, NM. Here is an early Spring view of the Chama.
