As a fed, this has been financially and emotionally draining. To think it will have been to gain pretty much nothing is infuriating. (I know-RIFsd will be reversed. But on 1/30, those folks can be re-RIFd. I would expect that. )

There is a 2019 law in place mandating back pay after a shutdown with no further vote/approval required. So unless that gets changed, people are not getting paid now, but should eventually be paid.

I think many people have decided to think this way to protect their mental health. They feel that nothing they do would make an impact, until they vote, which possibly might have an effect. So they keep their heads down and wait for the next election.

We got a GE Profile duo that washes and dries the clothes. Since it's just the 2 of us now and I don't have to do umpteen loads at a time it's great. Set it and forget it. You still have to fold though, which sucks.

We notice that the little price signs on the shelves have been replaced by electronic gizmos, so they can have 'real time' pricing, I assume to increase prices on the fly? (At Walmart.)

As an adoptee, I haven't experienced this particular feeling, but I can definitely understand it. Being adopted is a complicated emotional situation.

I have heard some version of 'regimes come and go' and 'the pendulum swings one way then another' from regular people in my life the past few weeks. It's a way to cope with a current situation that they feel is untenable, and that they don't feel they can change.
