When the press is provides the American people with misinformation (or even disinformation) that creates a serious danger to the foundations of our democracy. 3/3

In our democracy, the people select elected officials to represent them. In order to determine if those individuals are truly representing them, the American people need information on what they are doing and so they rely on a free press to provide them with the information they need. 2/3

"That's the promise of the Declaration of Independence, and particularly the Constitution. We, the people, have delegated some power to elected officials, including the presidents, and the responsibility of the courts, in part, is to hold those officials to the limits of that delegated power." 3/4
