No one can tell how long is Long COVID By Giada Gelli Let me ask you a question: are you ready to forget who you are? Are you willing to ditch your identity, your job, your hobbies, your well-crafted career, your dreams and all your future possibilities and instead just disappear, wear this invisibility cloak for a while, or maybe forever? No one can tell how long is Long COVID. Ask a teenager to forgo all opportunities of fun, of learning and growing, of experiencing life to the fullest. Forget traveling, friends, nights out, all the thrills of the heart and instead wear this invisibility cloak for a while, for five terms, until adulthood, or maybe forever? No one can tell how long is Long COVID. Ask a child. How do you even ask a 3, 7, 10 year old child to forget about being joyful and free, to forget about energy and routine, to be bedbound, housebound, limited to have illness upon illness, to give up on their childhood and instead wear this invisibility cloak for the longest time ever. To a child even a day feels like forever. Ask someone with Long COVID. Or maybe simply ask yourself, am I ready to implode my whole self? My identity – gone. My purpose – gone. My independence – gone. And instead just disappear and wear this invisibility cloak for what feels like an eternity. If only we knew that clean air WORKS, masks WORK, awareness WORKS, then we could spare you and me, your mother, your child, your partner, your best friend, your husband, your auntie and many more thousands of us from the Long COVID cloak of invisibility.

Hard times by Giada Gelli Dawn of a new day, same goddam hardship resting on our shoulders. Every day the battle continues as it begins to wear us down to our very bare bones. I'll keep a smile on my mask, my outer shell, while on the inside the palace keeps crumbling, keeps losing its once nurtured structure. In years to come will the archaeologists find any hidden treasures in this rubble of mine? In a stolen ten minutes, notebook in my jeans pocket, poetry, music and above all nature will help me through this. The car radio buzzes and the CD starts again, track 1, on repeat, 2+2=5.

My New Life I sometimes wonder what I've been put on this earth to do, My purpose now confusing, where I always thought I knew... Just where I was going, it gave meaning to my life, A reason to move forward, a reason to survive. Now the rug pulled out so harshly from underneath my feet, I try to see a future, where I'm no longer obsolete; But the pathway, now is muddied, by undergrowth and weeds, As I stumble, slowly onwards, searching for a way I may proceed. And who is here to lead me, where have all the doctors gone? Why do I have to do this, with no help, alone? Is there no one out there who really cares at all? Why will no one listen to what I have been going through? Amidst the many questions, I have to find a light, A way to make things better, a way to be alright; A way to make it bearable, a way to come to terms With this new, vague understanding, of what it means to be infirm. To find new motivation, to finally accept, That I am simply different, not one of life's rejects; To stop, now, asking questions, because although I may not thrive, I have to learn to live with, and accept this... my new life.
