Cult thinking is based on a mix of distrust of mainstream sources, Stockholm syndrome and an extreme sense that one "is right" -- challenges to any of that become in essence "threats" and it triggers base instinct more than thought. The delusion is deep. At least a third of the population is here.

This goes for learning anything that involves logic and reasoning (and by extension arithmetic).

Sure, my older brain has trouble overcoming the noises in my head in the form of self doubt, what-fors, and the likes, but barring those, learning definitely feels more fun with age.

The time it has taken to arrive at the understanding that my ability to feel things deeply is not a flaw in my making!
And yet, I still fall back to the safety of my older selves with several triggers.
