Great news for independent theatre in NYC: The 84 seat East Village theatre The Wild Project has staved off closure by purchasing their building for $5 million. This purchase secures their future and the future for the thousands of artists who call it a creative home.

I’ve had smooth, on-time rides with the new R211A trains on the G. And I particularly love the very detailed digital displays over the doors with bus and subway transfers, street exits, stairs and elevators. Right down to which car you’re on.

#FridayReads: I’ve loved Ta-Nehisi Coates’s work for years. The Message, particularly the chapter on his trip to Palestine in summer 2023, is an impactful read. In that chapter Coates documents the degrading day-to-day experience of Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza under Israel’s occupation.

Through 11/26 the MTA is taking public comments on the new 19 stop Interborough Express train connecting Jackson Heights, Queens to Bay Ridge, Brooklyn using already existing rails. I let them know I am overwhelmingly in support yet that I hope they can make it heavy rail instead of a “light metro.”

Self-driving Waymo cars are currently being tested on Manhattan streets. I saw one the other day. They still have human drivers behind the wheel during the test period. Personally, I’ll still be getting around town on the subway and the bus.
