Bueno, en Utqiagvik, sí, el sol desaparece por 2 meses. Pero un poco más al sur de allá, como en las comunidades cerca a Kotzebue (todavía en el Ártico), el sol sube un poco cada día (estas fotos las saqué en diciembre y enero allá). Y donde vivo yo tenemos unas ~5 - 7 horas de ☀️ en el invierno.

Also, on a selfish level, I like to visually reminisce about all the beautiful places I've been & things I've learned & people I've spent time with. I wouldn't trade the richness of a life well-lived for fame or $. I mean, I studied art, critical social thought, & social work for a reason, lol.

You're so sweet; ty! I think a lot of what gets cast as "hotness" or the currency of femininity has to do with things that cost $ & take time (nails, eyelashes, makeup, diets, hair products, clothing, shoes, etc. & also surgery), as well as the willingness to be seen & to behave a certain way.

It's a very personal & meandering look back on my life as I think about the fact that Nuzzi -- AND LARRY SUMMERS, yes that sexist, sexually harassing, Epstein friendship-maintaining Larry Summers -- have articles in big media like NYT, & many talented people whose perspectives are needed...do not.
I guess my mind went down this path bc I'm in the middle of a bunch of applications, etc. to try to get film money & get writing published & get paying contracts. It's a hard but good hustle & I'm not bitter about it. I just wish there were more systems designed to lift up & fund diverse voices.

But I'd prefer to live in a society where people HAVE MORE CHOICES & where the rewards of editorships & spreads in magazines & publishing contracts aren't awarded to the talentless elite men who exploit young women & to racist grifters who ride on patriarchy.

As wages & buying power plummet, as layoffs increase, as tuition rises & student loan forgiveness remains largely unattainable, as rent & groceries go up, I fear for the many more people whose lives are constrained & who face even fewer choices. I have NO negative judgment on sex work as a path tbc,
