I’m a kitchen manager and note the same phenomenon among certain personalities I manage. Put the malleable guy with the shitbird chef, you get two shitbirds. Put them with someone competent, you get two competent people. Human nature is weird.

An interesting thing about dementia - something I learned first-hand with my mom. Take the dementia patient out of contact with a negative person, substitute with a positive person, and the dementia patient becomes more positive.
