Despite the prevailing "we don't need no ESG" climate in the US, climate is, in fact, a significant risk for US equities - at least according to Green Central Banking's @emmathomasson.bsky.social. So are EU ESG regulations a source of alpha? Could well be.

The ICJ says countries have an obligation to fight climate change. If only they had the power to enforce that ruling!

The idea that countries that have contributed the most to climate change should be pay reparations? Probably reasonable but definitely challenging.

In some cultures, women still face immense social pressure to show their “value” by becoming mothers. Is it any wonder then that a cult of pseudo babies would arise? Sure there are other reasons the dolls are popular but this one makes me sad.

For the most part, sprawl means those of us who are nondrivers (youth, disabled people, people aging out of driving) are stuck at home or reliant on favors from family and friends to meet our basic needs. This shouldn’t be our future.
Not a single time in this article glorifying the need for sprawl to address the US's affordable housing crisis is there a mention of the vast transportation costs of sprawling living patterns. Nor is there mention of the fact that sprawl is directly linked to disinvestment in urban cores.

One can only hope that SCOTUS responds by requiring the return of Mr. Garcia who was wrongly & unlawfully deported. It shouldn't have required a court decision in the first place, but if outside of the purview of a district court, surely SCOTUS can set things right.

Some problems are so big, we only managed to look small pieces. Plastic waste gets much attention, but it's the tip of the trash iceberg. Maybe we used to be able to ship our trash to other countries with impunity. Even if that remains true, is that a real solution?
