I've always thought that the whole "natural immunity is the best way to protect people" thing was a bit like saying "getting pregnant is the best form of birth control."

Anyway, cool to see it's better for the immune system to see vaccine before virus from an effectiveness standpoint too.
A study on 1.7 million people in Hong Kong shows superior hybrid immunity to Covid in people who got vaccinated before infection vs. people who got infected first. "Our findings are a direct rebuttal to arguments for natural immunity," the authors write. doi.org/10.1016/j.va...

Notice: “work sucks” when directed at men means that we need better working conditions and higher pay. “Work sucks” when directed at women means that they should drop out and have babies.

Brace yourselves, the most annoying person you know is about to start making Taylor Swift's engagement their whole personality as if they know her personally 🤪

What is with this weirdly patronizing social media language directed at women? I am not “in my soft girl era” I am a bitch.

Telling people I majored in math in college usually gets one of two responses.

Either 1) gross, why? Math is boring (what am I supposed to say to that) or 2) oh cool, what kind of math did you learn? (No way to explain that in casual conversation so I end up sounding like I know nothing lol)
Name one thing you almost never disclose about you bc it elicits a predictable interaction that you hate.

Me: oh, I used to work for Girl Scouts USA for many years!

Everyone: oh lol did you bake all the cookies???

Me to my husband: did you ever think you'd end up married to someone who writes two drafts of a packing list before finalizing it?

Him: I didn't even think people like that existed

After being in nyc for 3 days my main takeaway is that new yorkers know nothing about how people in the pnw dress. I got sincerely complimented 2 separate times on objectively very basic/boring outfits (athleisure, then a flannel lmao) and I don't know what to make of that

The rise of social media discourses aimed at women that pose a lot of wild misinformation about the menstrual cycle’s impact on psychological functioning is an underreported part of the anti-feminist backlash.
Christian influencer Allie Beth Stuckey says the only reason you don't want to have a baby (many babies!) right now is that your evil birth control is taking over your brain. (About that: www.motherjones.com/politics/202...)

Politically speaking I could not have picked a worse time to realize that I accidentally left my marriage license in our old apartment 3 hours away that we moved out of 6 months ago

A fun laundry game to play when you are married to someone way taller than you is "is this item of clothing a pair of my shorts or a pair of his underwear" because they are approximately the same size

Sometimes being a woman is just... something else. At the grocery store today some random man walked over to tell me I looked "shapely" and that he enjoyed that??? Sir I am just trying to pick out apples, what makes you think I want to hear your unsolicited comments about my body shape 🙄

between the manosphere & hugely popular tradwife/anti-birth control content saturating social media, it's truly scary what young people are being exposed to and how that's inevitably shaping their politics + the rights they're being brainwashed into happily giving away...

I've had horrible experiences w/ birth control forms that ppl have had seamless experiences with & vice-versa. Anti-abortion movmts are trying to capitalize on the internet's inability to grasp nuance to brainwash younger women into happily giving up major rights; its part &parcel w/ trad content

A lot of seemingly apolitical content about birth control ~safety concerns~/BC "alternatives" on tiktok/other platforms isn't apolitical at all. It exploits the fact that many people have mixed experiences w/ different forms of BC to feed cultural panics that can then yield policy restrictions:

It's getting worse! Someone pls tell the wellness grifters that there is a difference between pointing out that existing birth control options aren't perfect/we should demand better and demonizing the *concept* of it in the name of being "natural" or "balancing your hormones" whatever tf that means
I am not exaggerating when I say that the *majority* of my suggested instagram posts are either trad wife stuff, anti birth control, or pregnancy/natural childbirth content. Is this just because I'm a 27 year old straight woman and it knows that?? I am constantly blocking the accounts and yet

I am a lifelong eagles fan and even so the game I care more about today is the AFC championship. I am so tired of seeing and hearing about the chiefs and if I have to watch them in *another* superbowl I will scream

The older I get the more I unironically become a new year's resolution person. I think it's less about self improvement and more about data bc it's sooo satisfying to say "I'm going to do x thing y often" and then make a little chart to track my progress and then check off each time I do the thing
