Fit for Tv: The Reality of the Biggest Loser documentary reminds me how thinness is so prioritized in our society that dangerous exercises & little to no food is acceptable treatment of fat people as long as the result is weight loss. All the contestants deserved better. Reality tv is exploitative.

KNOW YOUR RIGHTS.

With mass deportations starting today across the country, it is vitally important - for both citizens and non-citizens - to know your rights.

You have the right to remain silent. Assert it. You have the right to a lawyer. Ask for one.

Listening to the hobbit and forgot about this description of Smaug.
“His rage passes description - the sort of rage that is only seen when rich folk that have more than they can enjoy suddenly lose something that they have long had but have never before used or wanted.” J.R.R Tolkien

The letter marks the first time in recent memory that Nobel laureates have banded together against a Cabinet choice. But Kennedy is a threat they could not ignore, one said. www.nytimes.com/2024/12/09/h...

Massachusetts last year made phone calls from prison and jails free.

It also wiped charges for other forms of communication between incarcerated folks & their loved ones.

You can see how hugely important it is for people in this piece. 1/2
