Got a message from the Illinois State Board of Education that the Federal government is withholding over $200 million that had already been appropriated for the coming school year. This includes money for teacher professional development, English Language Learners, and technology funding.

I met a woman at her first protest today. This felt like the largest crowd since the Iraq War leadup, which is both encouraging and sobering. We didn’t stop it then but I hope this is only the early stages of an uprising.
