What if I don't like candied fruit?

One of my kids (10 year old) cannot emotionally cope with Settlers of Catan.

Last year's flu season was horrible. Earlier, I had heard we don't often get two bad ones in a row. This is disheartening news. I'm a nurse, my family and I get our flu shots every year, and one of my kids still got walking pneumonia last winter. I'm tired, y'all.

The "digital gaze" (thanks Elise Hu! Read her book "Flawless"!) and "Instagram face" are new to the last 10 years though. It's not just thinness or body types being in style, it is literally facial features. And our perception of them is being warped by selfie lens distortion and filters.

So in Catholicism, gossip is a sin. In my poor catechesis, I usually don't really know what this means and have gotten answers from priests ranging from "if you're talking to fewer than 5 people it's fine" to "emotionally processing by talking is okay" to "don't denigrate someone's character".

When I was inquiring / in RCIA, the music director at my parish loved all the Bob Hurd, Marty Haugen, Bernadette Farrell etc songs. I know they get ragged on a lot nowadays, but they're still sentimental to me, plus I can sing them.

Right? There's a very simple solution here which involves the man minding his own business, and if what he's seeing bothers him, he can *lower his eyes*.

I'm 100% convinced that "gentle parenting" only "works" with very specific temperaments of kids. Many of the recommendations made my barbarian toddler amp up negative behaviors way worse. Turns out he has ADHD. Innate temperament is a huge factor that people don't want to admit.

My neighborhood is a trick-or-treat bonanza... I'm interested to see how it plays out this year. I bought a bunch of Sour Patch Kids but that's because I have always been a gummi candy devotee, and my kids are allergic to nuts so lots of chocolate candies are out anyway.
