I saw the commercial. I read the president’s post. I support my Congressman Al Green.

The researchers found that the cuts disproportionately affected trials focused on infectious diseases, such as covid-19 and HIV, prevention and behavioral interventions. More than 100 of the canceled grants were for cancer research.

Eek! My power is coming back!!! 🏃
I admitted to myself that I can’t run like I did 5 years ago and very mindfully cut my stride length in half until I build up my strength in my feet and knees again. It made all the difference and this was the longest distance I could run before having to walk.

A thought about the next democratic nominee:

Asking Americans who they personally like versus who they think will can win are two entirely different questions.

To discover where we really are, surveys should be designed to tease this out.

Tonight’s run began by focusing on form, with special attention on landing evenly on my foot, not on my toes. My spine and hips liked this for the first km. In the 2nd km, my left foot reminded me it had been injured a while back. I walked the last 2km.

Today’s cruiseship on the Frederiksted dock is a more common site. Warships in the Caribbean don’t usually come here. I support the boost to business both ships bring to the island. Can’t say I feel the same about killing people on fishing boats with no accountability.

Here we go again! I still have a bit of a cough, but that bug is mostly gone and I am at it again. I am so proud! All 3 km have power over 100! It has been a long climb up from the bottom. Starting to feel half way decent. Still lots more to go! Just a few years ago, I could do a 5K in less than 30.

Teddy Roosevelt stayed in my teenage homeI in St. Croix. The plaque above my front door said he visited in 1916. The image of it will be forever etched in my mind. I was looking for details of this visit and ChatGPT said it never happened. Luckily, I found this:

My husband’s office space is getting a make over. This new rug is the first step and I am in love with Alice in Wonderland feel. Work hard, also never take yourself too seriously. If you do, you sorta miss the point of life.

Why am I different from most Oklahomans? Because I spent time in the Projects at the other end of town from this pier while my dad built them. I learned that negative generalizations of people can make you miss out on beautiful souls. A smile and listening ear can give the strength to hold on.
Iwo Jima on my pier is surreal. As a teenager, I would race down the length of the pier and fly off the end into the water. Then I would race my friends up the ladder of the small, taller pier at the end and plunge into the water again. I would lie to my parents and say I never got in the water.

Today’s run. I am recovering from a virus of some sort and have not been running for a few days. I’m still not completely well and I could only run for 15 minutes, instead of my usual 30 minutes. Oh well. I am working on consistency as much as improving speed. Tomorrow is another day.

Texas just got even more stupid. We voted for Prop 12 that gives the most evil governor in US history control of our state courts.

Yes, Texas has gerrymandering. What I want to know is, will the governor own our judges?? Tell me the result of Proposition 12!

Election day in America - even though we’re not voting for president, everyone is edgy and moody because we know its a big day in the US

We don’t have kings. Elections matter. Local positions are powerful in democracies.

Consecutive day 6 - leg cramps were slowing me down, not inability to breathe. Times are worse, but I feel stronger and cardio health is slowly coming back. Tomorrow will be my rest day. This fun music kept me going. ;-)

Another night run. The sweat glands are finally activating and even the back of my hands were glistening at the end of this run. And for fun, here’s Yona waiting for me to come home and put her to bed. She’s a bit agitated with me for being late.

It was an evening run today. Baloo is the pet that came greeted me for the selfie. Likely, he was ready for bed, but can’t sleep without snuggling me.
