Students on the panel say: consistency is really important for vle engagement, from looks to different content layout (files in the same place between modules for example!) #ALTc25

Such a vexed question - I totally get the email overwhelm, and the demand for just-in-time comms (like teams) can be overwhelming for staff (feeling "always on"); I think there is a case for bulk comms, but also a necessity not to overuse them. How do we stop becoming spam?
Every time there is a student panel, someone asks how we should communicate with students. But all students are different. Some of our students say they preferred emails, and it helps building digital skills for employability, but they find emails with multiple topics overwhelming #altc25

Good to hear the student panel busting the myth of digital natives. Whilst they are comfortable using technology for leisure, they know that using it critically and academically is different. Something that @jsecker.bsky.social and I were discussing with academics yesterday in our MA module #altc25

Trevor Omoruyi, with a good keynote for our conference, making me think about how those of us in teaching and learning are stabilisers like those on a bike - and the importance of thinking global!

Clearly in need of a bit of down-time... nothing like accidentally replying all to a large mailing list rather than directing your email to your team like you intended. Totally embarrassing 😖

Excellent point from @jacpotter.bsky.social on AI. We have to accept that there will be people who don't want to use AI even if that seems antithetical to the current rhetoric that everyone wants to use it #altc #THEdigitalUK

As ever, technology is forcing change in education. A shame that AI should is the driver for these changes, such as those to assessment, but necessity is the mother of invention. It feels energy would be better spent on getting education to actively change instead of react #altc #THEdigitalUK
