Last one of these for the year! Something for everyone: writing news, a cover reveal, good TV, adorable cats... open.substack.com/pub/lauranag...

The day after my cats came home, I found out I got an ALTA travel fellowship. I told David some humans thought I was a good translator, and he looked at me adoringly, like he’d always believed in me.

I came home today and said I got a story accepted. Apparently, this type of thing is now old news.

David declines to wear an additional costume this evening. (He’s a puppy dog disguised as a cat every single day.)

“A day off is a day OFF, human! No sitting on the office chair!”

He acts like he’s going to take a nap, but he can’t resist watching The Traitors Ireland with me. Maybe he thinks it’s fabulous television. Maybe he can’t believe how bad these people are at this game.

She’s confident I can type with one hand. After all, she needs just one paw to hit the caps lock key.

I get SO MUCH spam email based on AI-generated summaries of book reviews. I rarely even open them. But this one, wishing “a gentle, bright day” to a man who died a century and a half ago, is my new favorite.

Grateful as ever for David’s commitment to my favorite game, “Where’s David?” As you can tell, he is very clever and excellent at hiding.

I’m pretty sure she can count to five and knows it’s time for a weekend now. 😻

Mr. David Rose Nagle turns 6 today! He will celebrate with treats and snuggles from his sister and their human. He is also happy to accept compliments from his many fans on his handsomeness, cleverness, and overall superiority. 😻

My favorite part of this is that you can hear her snoring at the end 😹

Alexis, on my desk: Where is that brother of mine?! I know he’s around here somewhere…

— Buddy-boo, guess what I brought home for you!

— Finally, a backpack of my own, so you can take me with you everywhere you go!

— No. I got your favorite food. The backpack is for me.

— I think not! 😼

Five years ago today, I went to the shelter to meet these precious little weirdos. Due to Covid occupancy restrictions, I had only a few minutes to decide whether to adopt them. Easiest decision of my life.
