Today's amusing tidbit. A gossipy letter about the marriage of Esther "Hetty" Isaacks (daughter of Rebecca Mears) to Isaac Moses (of SC) and also less bitchy note about the marriage of Fanny Isaacs and Harmon Hendricks. The letter supplies great information about the wedding outfits of both women.

What we are reading! Finished “Wild Dark Shore” over the first part of succot and can’t recommend it enough. Perfect for people who like a thriller and are interested in the environment or animals or Oz. T Swift book based on the Harvard poet’s class

Two more exquisite books I highly recommend. Both cover brutal topics but have incredible character development and amazing writing. The Correspondent reminded me of Elizabeth Strout’s work. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #deathofus #thecorrespondent

Some awesome books we have read in the past week. Katabasis is a wickedly funny academic spoof. Unfinished Acts of Wild Creation is a Jewish American novel that traces women in a family over three generations. If you like the work of Allegra Goodman, you may like Yahm’s book. #sarahyahm #katabasis

The succah is up! Tomorrow the spouse is supposed to string the lights and get the cushions for the outdoor chairs set up while I am at work. Meanwhile shopping is done, dishwasher is running so I can set up the crockpot in the am, and dough for challah rolls is in the bread machine. 🍋🍞🍗

Amusing find of the day. This "Woolie of a shepherd wearing 'Joseph's Coat of Many Colors' holding a lamb. English c. 1850." Leatherwood Antiques. id34108.securedata.net/leatherwooda...

I love how he tucks the sheep under his arm and also the pipe in his mouth.

L’Shana Tova! A very happy new year to everyone. May the coming be year be filled with blessings and only good news, and may you only know the sweetness and happiness a pug feels when he is about to eat a slice of apple. 🍎 🍯 🍏

2 of the books we read over Shabbat. One true love was fine, but I HIGHLY recommend “Notes on Your Sudden Disappearance” by Alison Espach (the same author as The Wedding People). Laugh out loud funny but also about real issues. Beautifully written. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
