The climate in Economics isn’t always great for women/nonbinary persons. That is why it is such a joy to be surrounded by all these amazing people at Tufts including:

@martinauccioli.bsky.social came and gave an excellent talk this week @tufts.edu about how increases to work regularity (not necessarily total hours) can lower the child penalty for mothers using data from a law change in Australia. Such a great paper!

Finally getting to @itsafronomics.bsky.social book “The Double Tax”. I am learning so much about the intersection of gender/ racial gaps. Also highly recommend the audible version for Anna’s fantastic laughter (if we don’t laugh we cry type of moments).

Interesting talk by Nick Ryan today about the benefits (or lack thereof) of carbon offsetting firms in China partially due to selection into the offsets program by higher growth firms.

@thetahat.bsky.social gave an excellent talk at Tufts today using a field experiment to show the effects of exposure to a neighborhood on likelihood of choosing to work there. Super interesting to think about how this could affect mobility and job matching.

Great talk by @alanger.bsky.social at Tufts this past week. She taught me a lot about the unintended consequences of incentives to get utilities to switch away from coal.

Having a great time at the Advances with Field Experiments (AFE) conference so far. They projected Zoe Cullen’s keynote above the bar last night: wise words that apply to field experiments and choices at the bar “less is more sometimes”

Other highlights were Bo Cowgill won the best paper award.

Haven't read this yet, but this seems very important for #ExpEcon folks. 22–27% failed comprehension in the DG & UG; in the Trust Game and Public Goods Game, that number hit 70% and 52%. doi.org/10.1016/j.je... (Note saw posted on other site but author doesn't seem to be here, so making a new post)

Excited (hmm maybe wrong word) to learn more about fertility and population decline @nber.org. I didn’t see a live stream link, but maybe it’s up on youtube? www.nber.org/conferences/...
