Parents and community members shouldn’t have to stand vigil outside of daycares and schools in order to be the first line of defense against unlawful immigration enforcement and federal overreach. I supported HB1312 b/c Illinois lawmakers will protect families when Republicans in Washington won’t.

We must continue to protect the people of Illinois, and that’s just what I plan to do here in IL-09 and in Washington, DC.

Last week, I voted in favor of legislation to hold ICE accountable and keep Illinois safe. HB 1312 aims to put a stop to unjust arrests, establish safe zones, and increase safety procedures and transparency about ICE activity on hospital, school, and daycare grounds.

The message is clear: people want leaders who care, listen, and deliver.
