Notice how quickly “we want our nation to uphold Christian values” turns into “it’s not the government’s job to feed the hungry or help the poor!” which are actually things Christ taught his followers to value.

How can autistic adults thrive in life?

This should be at the heart of autism researchers, not what causes autism.

But instead.. 2025.. and I still keep seeing all the same things that's labeled as negative or a barrier from these researchers, that is disappointing to say the least.

Come on now.

yearly reminder to people insisting that we view Christopher Columbus as "a man of his time" that *the people responsible for the Spanish Inquisition* thought Columbus was out of pocket
Christopher Columbus was dragged back to Spain in chains by a crusading knight, convicted of tyranny and immeasurable cruelty, pardoned by Isabella but banned from returning to Hispaniola.

Fuck Columbus.

If U.S. states have any degree of sovereignty, if there’s any states’ rights at all, it is the right not to be invaded by the armed forces of another U.S. state.

One thing about rights is that they only exist if you fight for them. If you just capitulate to authoritarian demands they are worthless.

Spent a wonderful night celebrating my oldest kid’s 18th birthday!
The @thedailyshow.com was fabulous & guest @leahlitman.bsky.social was spectacular. I’m looking forward to reading her book “Lawless” when I get home.
A big shoutout to #thedailyshow staff for making everything run so well.

Elizabeth Van Lew’s story is far from “untold”. But she is probably my favorite historical person to tell people about and people are always surprised. So I’m happy that Van Lew is getting even more press, because I really think she should be well known even outside of historical circles.
I get why publishers love the "untold story" framing, but I still really hate it.

Whether this book is a good re-telling of Elizabeth Van Lew's story, I don't know.

But the idea that it's "untold" is insulting to the historians who've told it many times before.🗃️
Civil War spy Elizabeth Van Lew defined courage fighting for what she believed
Elizabeth Van Lew, a Southern belle turned Union spymaster, exemplifies true heroism during the Civil War, challenging the diluted modern concept of a hero.

Every night. Dinner.

Who came up with that?

Today in Raleigh, my first protest! Probably not the last. My feelings about that are complicated, but I’m glad to have exercised my constitutional rights today.

Actual autism is not the rfk story. Eugenics is.

There is *no type of person* that is a burden to be eradicated. One of the ways Trumpers benefit from being loose with words is bc it defines the narrative and makes counter arguments sound academic.

Do not eradicate people. Do not abdicty people.

“Sewing your own clothes to avoid tariffs” seems like a good idea until you realize it’s very expensive, takes a ton of time, and just about every component — from fabric and thread to sewing machines — are made abroad. I do think this is a great time to learn how to mend clothes, though!

It's simple. Everyone in the US enjoys the protections of the Constitution - even visitors. So if someone commits a crime here, you give them due process here. You charge them here, try them here, and sentence them here. You don't deport them to an offshore torture prison.

I have been in fandom group chats with better operational security than this. Not in anyway a comfortable conclusion.

And, of course, also chats that leaked like sieve, but they were about TV, not national defense.
