I bake and knit and sew and grow edible things and live quietly and am happily married and will believe in egalitarian freedom til my last breath.
Excellent gig by Nick Heyward in the tiny Voodoo Rooms- felt like he was playing your local :)

The design, and photos without and with flash.
If you know anyone who would want to finish them, I still have the basics (although the gold and silks have been used for other projects).

I enjoyed the stag- my first-ever beadwork...

We picked some late apples from the help-yourself trees behind local allotments, to take to an elderly relative who was looking forward to their own little harvest of Hames Grieves, a whole dozen- only for someone to climb into their garden and pinch every single one.

Hurrah for local allotments!

We had the company of an elegant, reserved, still heron this morning at the quarry.
It's not a great photo, as I was swimming at the time :)

The Brindley, Runcorn - nice little ‘studio’ venue for a gig by the ever- entertaining “Pet Shop Boys: Actually”, superb tribute band :)

Does anyone want, or know who might want, this 1968 publication, by the Road Research Laboratory, on transport in Gloucester, Northampton and Reading?

It just seems the kind of thing some transport policy history geek might love, and it’s otherwise going into the recycling bin…

Walking home from the optician’s, wearing my new glasses- ideal chance to test my new distance-vision watching this buzzard soaring on thermals above the houses…

I picked my first hops last week in Shropshire- they’re in an organza bag, drying, in the bedroom and wow, we’re sleeping soundly!!

Nearly three pounds of damsons picked this morning despite the heavy rain that soaked me to the skin (naturally, it’s been sunny ever since I got home! )

I shall dry these off, and eat some, but stone and freeze others.

The yellow ones are cherry-plum that were somehow still on the bushes!

Just in time for the wetter weather, I sewed a new saddle-cover, aka showercap, for my bike!

It’s certainly very tasty, and a lovely cheerful colour!
It makes really good jelly… I did make jam too, but the jelly is such a lovely colour- and the red ones make a glorious jelly too!
(Lower jars darker as they’re two deep, and the jam on the right, darker still)

Adjacent was a tree of red ones, not yet fully ripe, flavour basically still sour-tart although soft enough to eat and comes away from stone cleanly.

By chance this morning we spotted these and picked a pound and a half in a few minutes, extremely ripe! Flavour has a slight plumskin-tart aftertaste but is delicious and honeyed, a little like a very ripe greengage.
