Crimson Peak - a film I liked, at that - was still rife with a load of bad digital VFX crap, which kinda sunk its vibe imo.

Yep! Just that the slightly more melodramatic plot with the paranoid backstabbing astronauts and the larger variety of aliens was from Rama II

I read both Rama and 2010 Odyssey Two a few years back. Clarkes prose is definitely dry but I did love that in 2010 its casually dropped that half the astronauts are bi lol.

Infuriatingly one of the few cartoons to have jackals in it. Jackals who are cooler than the rest of the insipid character designs at least
