Newmarket MP Matt Hancock gave a £37bn Covid testing contract to Jockey Club director Dido Harding, who subcontracted it to Grand National sponsor Randox, employer of Tory MP Owen Paterson, whose late wife chaired Aintree racecourse. That's how the Tories handled the pandemic.

This sums up why so many people of 'a certain age' still love Italian football
It's Saturday morning, which means time for the kabaddi on Trans World Sport and then the sublime Gazzetta...

Only just woken up and listening to the end of the test. Looking forward to watching Travis Head in the highlights later
I don't think it's just his moustache, but Travis Head is one of my favourite cricketers

TMS commentators talking about the England bowlers looking tired a short time ago. They've barely had enough time to warm up today!

I've said this many times before but, compared to former footballers, former cricketers provide so much more insight into the game you're watching on TV

Worst PM at worst possible time. We needed a PM who was boring, grey but paid attention to detail & listened to advice (see Mark Drakeford).Instead,we had a liar, charlatan+clown who liked the idea of being PM but avoided the job’s reality.

23,000 lives. Johnson,Cummings & Hancock are still at large.
BREAKING: The UK’s response to Covid was “too little, too late”, a damning official report on the handling of the pandemic has concluded, saying the introduction of a lockdown even a week earlier than happened could have saved more than 20,000 lives.

Bosnia at home and then Italy or Northern Ireland at home. I'll take that

Still a chance that Wales will have to play Turkey for a place at the World Cup. That would make for an 'interesting' atmosphere in my house

Just catching up with the rest of the world cup results from last night. Haiti and Curacao both qualify

What a goal. There could well be more Scottish players at Italian clubs than actual Italians at next year's world cup

The new Wakes kit looks a bit better on but I'm still not convinced. A win will make it the best ever though, I'm sure

Whatever its flaws, public service broadcasting is the last line of defense against complete corporate control of news, information, entertainment. Once it’s weakened or killed, there is no return. You’ve handed informational control over to organizations that will always put profits over citizens.

Rewatching Treme and have nearly finished the second season. I didn't get to watch the third and fourth as I didn't have sky back then. Underrated gem of a TV show with incredible music

The fact that Badenoch clearly likes these new Labour asylum policies and is offering Tory votes to get them through Parliament should be a tiny bit of a red flag.

Instead of an expanded world cup, can we just have Scotland playing Greece every day for a month?

Just had an email excitedly telling me there were now some tickets available for the NBA game in London next year. Checked and the cheapest is £90, with most others at least £160 and upwards. I guess I won't be going then

$7,000 for a cat. A ticket for the WC final. Over seven times what it cost for a similar ticket at the Euro 2024 final, almost five times what was charged at Qatar 2022. Too much is never enough for Gianni Infantino.
Another price increase for the 2026 World Cup…

Sensing strong demand, FIFA raised the cost of many tickets to record-setting heights — the first large-scale implementation of its “variable pricing” strategy.
