Looking at Matchday 16, on paper, Man City have the hardest fixture and it's one they dropped points in last season too. Arsenal have the easiest, home against bottom of the table strugglers Wolves. Liverpool vs Brighton could go either way given each team's recent form.

* Obviously it doesn't work this way, but if all three teams match their corresponding results for the rest of the season, the table at the end of the season would look like (look away Arsenal fans):

Man City 81
Arsenal 80
Liverpool 74

Interesting facts:

* Arsenal's bogie team strikes again, this time in a sickening last minute goal scramble.

* Comparison of Sunderland to Leicester City has been very unfair ... except for their game against City

* Liverpool once again fail to match or beat a result from last season

For last season's relegated sides, I'm substituting:

* Sunderland for Leicester City
* Leeds for Ipswich
* Burnley for Southampton

This is entirely based on the relegated side's finishing positions and the promoted side's expected finishing positions this season. Unfair for all three, I know.

Matches coming thick and fast now. Looking at Matchday 15, swapping Sunderland for Leicester City and Leeds for Ipswich, all were wins last season. But if Sunderland can repeat what they just did to Liverpool, Leeds what they just did to Chelsea, and if Arsenal still have some players left ...

Interesting facts:

* Arsenal gain another 2 points from last season. That's 12 points gained from Newcastle and Fulham away, West Ham, Palace and Brentford at home - that's real progress

* Another 2 points gained, another 2 players lost to injury. 🎵 Same old Arsenal, Always Injured 🎵

So they haven't amputated yet? That's about as positive an Arsenal injury development we can get these days.

Another game we wouldn't have won last season (and we didn't), especially with all the injuries.

Most promisingly for the season ahead, I don't think it's a game that, had it been in the same game state, Man City or Liverpool (or Chelsea) would have won.

Hope Mosquera is ok. We need Saliba back!

I think unfortunately for Man City, these kind of results give more confidence to Arsenal than otherwise. It also gives confidence to whoever will play Man City.

It shows Man City are quite fallible and you can get at them. It's not the same flawless, relentless Man City that they were before.

People also don't like Arsenal because we're so hard to play against, never conceding shots let alone goals, and if I was an opposition fan I would hate that too. It must be very frustrating to watch.

He just gave credit to Chelsea for their draw, and if you check out his post match comments, he always credit the opposition regardless of the result (some exceptions apply).

People don't like him because he's managed to change Arsenal so much and it pains them that their own manager(s) couldn't.

Looking at Matchday 14, swapping Sunderland for Leicester City, it's the same as MW 13. Man City and Liverpool got maximum points then, Arsenal only got a draw against Brentford last season at home. Arsenal have another opportunity to add +2 to their tally.

* All three teams match their results from last season.

* Arsenal failed to take 3 points from being a man up against Chelsea.

* Liverpool with a much-needed win

Just a couple of games too early for our attacking subs (and probably Martinelli as well), not match fit enough to make a difference. We should have plenty of firepower going into the busy festive period.

Hopefully Saliba's injury isn't too serious.

Played far too slowly, lacked urgency. Really should have swarmed Chelsea after Caicedo got sent off, before half time, before they could reorganise.

The team felt unsure without one of Saliba and Gabriel at the back, but they shouldn't be.

Physically and mentally tired too.

Move on, next.

Liverpool need to get back to basics, work hard, and build on a solid defensive platform first.

It's on the players, but also on Slot for not reinforcing the need to do this. Or maybe he has but has lost the dressing room ...
November 27, 2025 at 6:46 AM
Meanwhile, Arsenal 3-1 up in injury time when even Bayern had given up - 8 players back ready to defend, another one coming back to pressurise the Bayern player on the ball.

If you work hard defensively, then there's no way you lose 9 out of 12 games even if you're struggling in attack.
