Unfortunate to see today’s news from Vertex about their VX-264 therapy for #T1D but this is why we always have ‘multiple shots on goal’!

Considering that the same cells are being used as in VX-880 (so far great data) it’s reasonable to assume that the device encapsulation was the problem here.

Really fascinating debate at #ATTD2025 about whether or not we should use placebos in trial design for preventative therapies of #T1D now that Tzield (teplizumab) has shown efficacy and is approved in a few countries. Heavy hitters Colin Dayan and Laura Jacobsen presented excellent points!

Thrilled to (virtually) watch a fantastic talk at #ATTD2025 from Dr. Cristina Nostro about co-culturing pluripotent stem cells with macrophages which not only provides protection but also increases endocrine output!

Breakthrough T1D Canada has worked very closely with CIHR INMD over the past 6 years to double funding to #T1D research - $60M jointly spent since 2019!!
