What is or isn't a "BCI"?

We argue in Nature BME today that if the tech stimulates or records brain activity AND does computation, it's a BCI.

But we still need a way to discuss different types of BCI separately... 🧵

Curious if anyone has any good video game recommendations for neuroscience / neural engineering.

The half-life series comes to mind.. maybe Mass Effect, too?

This is a really interesting paper investigating outcomes associated with rechargeable implantable pulse generators. More studies analyses on neuromod tools themselves are very much needed. doi.org/10.1016/j.ba...

If you haven't tried #ARC search yet, I can highly recommend. I'm still using Google for the ~ simple ~ things, but for quick (<3 second) data/source aggregation and synthesis, PLUS phenomenal source highlights, ARC rules.

We've been working hard behind the scenes at Motif to generate new tools for psychiatrists and sufferers of TRD. Check it out!
Today we're excited to unveil our new website and company video! We believe that people with difficult to treat mental health disorders deserve access to the most advanced therapies. That's why we're building therapeutic brain computer interfaces.

I had an idea way back in college which I've long thought could be, in many ways, the ultimate BCI technology. What if instead of using electrodes, we used biological neurons embedded in electronics to communicate with the brain?
