5/6 However, in other regions where resistance to oppression is a way of life, the battle against algorithms has officially begun.

4/6 In parts of the world where certain groups are perceived and treated as superior to others and enjoy various forms of favouritism (i.e., ethno-nationalist), ‘algospeak’ is often unemployed, even unheard of.

3/6 In the context of political, racial, religious, and/or colonial oppression, the voices of the perpetrated are often intentionally, strategically, and maliciously silenced online. ‘Algospeak’ becomes a form of resistance to the intentional algorithmic bias of mainstream SM.

All this to say is that at this stage, your prospective supervisors just need to know that you’re knowledgeable about the different aspects of research, that you are able to choose a topic and explain its rationale, and that you are able to conduct a lit review and relate it to your topic.

From my experience (a year-4 phd candidate), your topic will not remain the same. It is bound to evolve and change which is exactly the point of doing a phd. If you finish off with exactly what you started, then what did the phd add to what you already know?
