It’s wild to think MAEGLIN was probably allowed to be rehoused when Fëanor wasn’t.

Y’all… Nosferatu was so good. I guess it’s technically horror, but it’s definitely not scary. It’s very atmospheric and gothic and moody and the sense of dread is just so good. Probably the best vampire movie I’ve ever seen. Robert Eggers really is so talented.

Sadly, 5 years ago today: we lost Christopher #Tolkien at the age of 95. He edited around two-dozen books of his father's works, and brought us much of what we now know about Middle-earth, for which we are all incredibly grateful. He is missed. Namárië.

1. They’re in the same sphere of interest as me.
2. They regularly post about said interest.
3. We have more than a couple mutuals in common.
4. They’re not posting a bunch of intentionally inflammatory stuff to get a rise out of people.

This is so real. The Elves spend their whole lives looking backwards - back to Tirion, back to Valinor. Everything they do in Middle-earth points backwards - they're always trying to go back, return, make their world like it used to be. It's all an echo.

It’s deeply unsatisfying to me that I don’t get closure for what happened to Saruman’s spirit. At first I thought he was called back for judgement but then I thought he might have been denied and remained in ME, a spirit unable to take form again. But Unfinished Tales says:

When Denethor threw the phrase of “wizard’s pupil” around about Faramir, what exactly did he think a Wizard was? He’s so freaking lucky that he had Gandalf in his city, the only Istar who remained loyal to his errand. He should have told Denethor what he really is.

Let’s just say I don’t have any Elves as role models, but I do have Aragorn, Faramir, Éowyn, Théoden and Frodo as characters who I’d like to be like in real life. There’s a certain kind of wisdom to be gained from our experience of mortality that the Elves can’t.
