Trump is a transactional racist. Trump will never be pro-Taiwan because Taiwan is very much not white. Trump is trying to see which government can bribe him more, China or Taiwan. Whoever gives Trump more money, will be the one getting favorable treatments from Trump.
Taiwanese people want to believe in Trump. Our pro-democracy media mostly covers him in a positive light. But his comments on Greenland, Canada, and Panama, remind us of the uncertainty that comes with Trump 2.0. He may not mean it literally but we should take it seriously.
