I used the #closetCore trouser class to sew my first pair of Mitchells. When the time comes to cut the fabric for the welt pocket scary music plays. 😂

Cut a bit larger than the largest size and use the Palmer/Pletsch (sp?) method of tissue fitting.

I made some pleated trousers using an old sheet. Pleats would not iron either. Even seams wouldn't iron flat. I figure that the fabric had some sort of wrinkle-preventing process done to it. Sorry, no advice other than to use a different fabric.
