Critical thinking ? That’s the humanities. But maths teach analysis and an understanding of patterns (not only pattern recognition, which computers do better).

crappy expression that’s not used in the UK; it’s all the more inappropriate when it concerns how to make refugee’ lives even more miserable.

Wrong question, because it wasn’t a revolution. It replaced an oligarchical monarchy by a quasi-monarchical presidential oligarchy. None off the foundations of colonial society changed.

Oh, and it’s Ken Burns, not Burn.

Long before that.

I mean this in all seriousness, but what are you talking about @hankgreen.bsky.social? What is this “discourse” that now controls the internet? What I see are algorithms channeling people’s worst instincts and bots hyping division. The internet is now dominated by profiteering and enshitification.

I call it corporatism, monopolism and rigged markets.

He and his goons weaponised the Epstein files for his campaign - and now they wonder why they’re slapping him (repeatedly) in the face ?

Just watch the original. It’s still one of the best movies ever made.

Poor countries, where most of these deaths occur, are in massive debt due to the Covid pandemic and to a climate change they didn’t cause. They literally can’t afford the drugs needed, or the food aid to compensate for failing crops.

Been boycotting them for years for other reason. But yes.

Was Johnson? Nixon? Kissinger? Reagan? George W Bush? Dick Cheney? Was any American politician ever held accountable for any crime? When you have a culture of forgetting and moving on, as a trail of death becomes bones, there can be no accountability.

Dr Steve Keeller, I presume?

I never really saw the US as a beacon of democracy, and I don’t know many non-Americans who do. It’s only because the US government is doing to the US what it has long done to other countries that Americans are horrified.

There is only one sort of “heritage American”: Indigenous Americans. Europeans who settled in the 17th and 18th centuries can’t really be called “heritage“ without making a mockery of the term.
And since it’s a highly discriminatory term anyway, best banish that notion. A US citizen is an American.

We call it anti-competition in Europe. Reuters must use the correct terminology.

The word ‘revolution‘ doesn’t fit the American declaration and war of independence. Especially socially and economically, it wasn’t a revolution, but a continuation under US rule. Britain’s abolitionist movement was gaining traction at a time when the colonies were doubling down on enslavement.

There can’t be oligarchy without corruption. They are co-dependent.

That’s not capitalism by any definition. It’s state-sponsored kleptocratic corporatism.

Infighting, unfortunately, has been part of the history of the left since the English Civil War. When it resists the temptation, it sweeps all before it.

They are too big for national security and monopolistic; on the other hand, nationalising AWS would cause huge problems in other countries, as it sells cloud services to governments and companies around the world.
I hope you find a good solution for you. Well done for making that sacrifice.
