Nobunagas Ambition is funny because youll be having fun fighting a skirmish with a rival clan you have formed a parasocial relationship and rivalry with due to frequent interactions and then itll just cut to this:

Thinking on subject of unhealthy obsession with purity & innocence & how modern capitalistic society is seemingly made to create a feedback loop for the lost desperate & alienated into hate & cruelty for profit & force conflict with others

A huge part of the appeal is indeed the sheer amount of monster designs and loot on offer with over 150 unique critters to encounter with few reskins and an in game Bestiary cataloguing them as you play!

While early on its very much a struggle to survive it gets easier as you go and learn your way!
the bestiary entry for Fat Mole who has been frequenting the video posts Ive made about game and is described as a mysterious creature who gives crucial advice in enigmatic riddles my favorite weapon in the game the Shadow Wolf a Katana that was dropped by a boss midway through the game and carried me the whole rest of the way with its gimmick being both life steal and high critical chance with low durability and no shield being the trade off

I have Cleared Shadow Tower and I have to say I did not expect to enjoy this game as much as I did!

It is an extremely niche type of rpg with heavy emphasis on equipment durability resource management and risk mitigation but settles into an extremely satisfying loop and cool monster designs! 1/2
Shadow Towers title screen which looks more at home in silent hill with a naked monk blindfolded looks upwards in dark sepia tones my final load out of gear and stats which by the end was so astronomically overpowered that I was mostly unkillable
