Very sad to hear of the death of David Lodge, whose books I've been enjoying a lot recently (see thread above). He would have been 90 at the end of this month.

Yesterday, we lost William Labov, a foundational figure in sociolinguistics. In his Abralin Talk, Labov reflected on a lifetime of scholarship that has mentored generations and advanced the pursuit of social equity through linguistics.
