The opening to a Swanya fic I'm writing, it will be HEAVY and there is no happy ending.
The only savior Swansea still believed in lived at the bottom of a mouthwash bottle, and died for his sins each time he twisted open another cap. He brought with Him neither mercy nor compassion; His hand was cruel, His judgment absolute. A true god, the kind Swansea had learned of in school, forgotten, and recalled in a flash of light, promising salvation for the price of his soul. Sobriety. Work. Family life. Burdens that chipped away at him until he was a shell of his former self, a prison where sleeping dogs lay, waiting for the universe to toss them a thick cut of meat.
