Helping make TV happen. Everything I say is my fault and my fault alone.
I just tried asking Gemini Live in English to do the same. It was clearer about not being able to but then suggested I copy the text of my emails or summarize them vocally to it.

Motherfucker wanted me to summarize my emails so it could summarize my emails.

How is this shit live for the public? I almost want to do a routine and see how long and how far Gemini Live was gonna keep stringing me along that it could do a thing it couldn’t. It’s impressively conversational but could you see Grandma looking for that nonexistent email link for half an hour?

I tell Gemini that there’s no email with a link. It tells me to check my spam. And now it’s just clear: motherfucker piece of software lied to me that it could check my Gmail but just went along with it. It’s a Google service lying about its Google capabilities, a *VERY BASIC* one at that.

I tell it I have a Gmail. Gemini tells me that it will send me a link by email so that I can give it permission to access my email. I get suspicious: it’s a Google service. It can’t, at best, throw up a dialog box to ask for my consent.

Well I check my email. There’s no link.

I ask it if I can change the Gemini Live voice. It says no. I check the settings and… well, yes I can. Odd but maybe it just meant it couldn’t change on the fly, which is fair.

I start a new conversation and I ask it if it can read or answer questions about my email. That’s when things go to shit.

I guess an OS update unlocked Gemini on my outer screen. I talk to it, ask it the weather. Ok. The basics work. Then I see the Gemini Live button. I had never tried it before. I speak to it in English and then to French on the fly and it follows along! Trust me, that impressive.

I regularly get both image and video fraud ads pretending to be real news outlets "reporting" about real public figures. The video ones have been deepfaked news footage. That YouTube would be profiting on this isn't remotely shocking to me.

Reminds me of when I saw Hans Zimmer in concert and he insisted to play some music he made for Dark Phoenix because he felt, correctly, that he cooked, regardless of what the movie did.

Every day this story gets worse. You think you hit the floor, there’s a tunnel. You pass the Earth’s core, a Portal gun shoots a hole and you start back at the top of the atmosphere, heading down again.

Any of these headlines should contain "US" even when it's obvious like "US President" or "US House of Representatives".

I can see why this can be a blind spot on Bluesky. Like, this site is harmful and flawed, by inherit design, in most of the ways an early 2010s social media platform was. But people here sometimes act like they're better for being addicted to Crystal Blue rather than X's Fentanyl-laced meth.

I'm so glad EB Games (formerly GameStop) Canada got sold away from the idiots running the US mothership. Their crazy ideas to improve the stores are getting into trading cards and doing midnight releases again. Rather than... this.

WOW, okay then. Didn't expect this news! forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/thread...

Development of the Cities Skylines franchise is moving away from Colossal Order to Iceflake Studios... CO will stick around to release their long-delayed bike patch and a beta version of the asset editor, but that's it.

Now, how sellable was that twist is its own question. It's like how The Last Jedi went front "The Galaxy is full of people ready to be inspired and become heroes" to Rise of Skywalker saying "Nah, Rey is Palpatine's grand-kid." It narrowed such a broad world with (heh) one stroke.
