Solidarity with @nteunion.bsky.social members from #UniNewcastle who are taking their strike to Sydney.

While UoN bigwigs toast 60 yrs of UoN in Parliament, they're also cutting hundreds of jobs & starting Fair Work processes which would allow them to bypass negotiating with staff. #shame

This is fantastic. Well done to @nteunion.bsky.social members at #CurtinUni! 👏✊ @nteuwa.bsky.social

We're taking this show on the road! 🚗

A great privilege for Millan and I to have been invited to speak at #UTS on the @nteunion.bsky.social campaign against job cuts at #ANU. ✊

Our solidarity to all facing pernicious job cuts.

Today is the 1-year anniversary of Renew ANU.

@nteunion.bsky.social members at #ANU have worked together, and:
🟣 The VC has resigned
🟣 We've saved 160 involuntary job losses.

Today, ANU Council considers our petition to dismiss the Chancellor. My recent op-ed outlines why they should.

What a big day... Much needed change at #ANU.

There is more to do as we work together to prevent remaining job cuts.

I could not be prouder of @nteunion.bsky.social members, or more grateful for the privilege of working side by side every day.

Always a pleasure to fly the flag with @nteunion.bsky.social comrades. Thanks to Meera for this photo!

Of course, while the company was great, the reason we're marching is not. We need stronger action on Palestine. ✊

This is how #ANU described the #TEQSA investigation to staff.

No wonder so many ANU staff speak about being gaslit by ANU leadership.

With NTEU National President Dr Alison Barnes and the @nteunion.bsky.social team at Parliament to give evidence on university governance. ✊️

Proud to stand with @nteunion.bsky.social comrades, Canberrans, and visitors from interstate today for the Convergence On Canberra rally to oppose genocide, occupation, and crimes against humanity in Palestine. ✊

Presumably this is the "leak".

I am less concerned about it leaking & more concerned that it appears to have happened.

What does it say about #ANU governance if elected representatives can't put a motion & expect to have it voted on? @nteunion.bsky.social stands for good governance.

This is just flat-out fabrication from @ourANU.

WGEA data counts people as people (i.e. headcount).

ANU's headcount of staff went down by 797 in 2024-5. They since had ~175 voluntary separations and have proposed 98 occupied roles be cut.

It counts casuals as full-time? What?

Time to start collating everything...

In this paper from #ANU Council in February 2025, $57.9m in "savings" identified.

Is the redacted part the $30m saved in Jan-Sep 2024? Or the 29% reduction in casual spending? Too early to be the $29m from voluntary separations... Or future cuts decided but not announced?
May 24, 2025 at 1:07 AM
In a report to #ANU Council in late September 2024 (just prior to 'Renew ANU' launching), "savings" of $30m from reducing staff by 140 FTE positions were identified.

ANU leadership now saying these don't count toward $100m target - so likely will be $130m & closer to 800 FTE.

ANU VC: "During my time at Intel..."

ANU Staff: "Oh, so like 6 months ago right?"

Safe to say that a lot of @nteunion.bsky.social members did a double-take at the #ANU VC Blog today. 🤦‍♂️

It was great to campaign with @nteuact.bsky.social and other unions today at the Canberra Airport on May Day. ✊

Why Canberra Airport? They're embroiled in a wage theft dispute and had a union organiser arrested three weeks ago. Shame.

If #AcademicDOGE isn't the most perfect way to describe the mindless hacking and slashing going at #ANU as part of Renew ANU, I don't know what is.

*Chef's kiss* 😚🤌

Looking forward to contributing from an @nteunion.bsky.social perspective on what's going wrong in higher education.

Well done to @greens.org.au for hosting on this important issue. It'll be great to catch up with @mehreenfaruqi.bsky.social and Isabel Mudford.
