There's an old saying "You would cry with a loaf of bread under your arm" Their retired, don't have any financial or health worries. They make grievance their hobby. Obsessions with Trans women in sports & DEI. Neither have any effects on them personally. They saddled us with trump. Unforgivable.

My boomer in-laws live in comfort. They're in no danger of running out of money, their housing is secure, they have excellent access to healthcare for their numerous aches and pains and they can't effing stop watching Fox News. Hatred is a stupid hobby.

I know the material reasons for the rise of fascism. I also think another reason - which doesn’t get talked about as much because it’s embarrassing that humans can be that naive - is that when you are financially comfortable but bored, abstract cruelty can give you a sense of purpose.
