I mean, I still have a hard time remembering that I actually get the major holidays off bc the office is closed! I catch myself wanting to ask coworkers if they're really sure and I'm not gonna get in trouble for not showing up...

It's just 20+ years of conditioning in retail/production where you're treated terribly for even daring to try to recuperate from being sick (or are penalized with a bs "point" system). I've only got a year of office work to counter it and it'll be years before I get used to it (if I ever do)!
