Like what does this mean?! What organizations? How does this prove they aren’t being discriminatory. This makes no sense and they are just pretending it does. This is BANANAS.

Excerpt from the Shea Butter FC newsletter. Reads: Final thoughts: On the Anthems We Sing and The Truth We See It felt odd to root for the US National Teams over the past week. It is hard to see people that look like you, being wildly talented and succeeding a sport where were weren’t always allowed and in which we are still underrepresented. But it also made me reflect on what America is to me. I am the descendent of the enslaved and the enslaver. I do not have another country to claim. I cannot sing another anthem honestly, but I also do not wish to sing mine aloud. I do not believe it’s words. So, what words do I believe are my American reality? Below I have listed three (3) alternates to the Star Spangled Banner, two unexpected, one heavier and more known. I’ll end with a poem and not the speech that gives this edition its title (thought you should listen to or read that as well.

I gotta say after being a season ticket holder at Gotham and now the Spirit, the Spirit are doing things 1000x better.

All I got from Gotham was a scarf.
A green blanket that says 2025 a season ticket member in yellow and Washington spirit crest in the center and goal line and side lines in white. Two towel-like piece of cloth that say 2025 season ticket member in big yellow block letters with spirit crest in white in the middle, a green leather luggage tag that says Washington spirit and two Washington spirit enamel pins and 2 jersey patches that look the same as the towels but circular.

For the pat two semesters I’ve been asking my micro class in the last few weeks of the semester whether they think infectious disease could be completely or mostly eradicated. The answer overwhelmingly (as in no, yes’) has been no. Here’s the reasons they gave today

The ducks/geese fly over and/or stop at farms with lots of chicken and spread the virus to the chickens.

The reason that you kill the chickens is two fold. One the virus is extremely contagious. So once a chicken gets sick it’s likely the others will also. Which brings me to the 2nd reason.

Through it all we persist and do good science! Look at these plaques!
Two twelve well plates placed side by side. Each plate is stained with crystal violet which appears purple to reveal plaques I.e. holes in the cell layer. This is representative of cell lysis caused by viral infection. One plates has a lot of tiny plaques and the other has much larger and fewer plaques.

Had the students pull water from the lake on campus to look for phaged and then we plated the water to see what kind of bacteria we would find too. Look at these bad boys. HurBi and HardyChrom ECC plates.

All dressed up for the school trunk or treat! It was a fun event!
