One lesson I had to learn the hard way while my mom was dying of cancer is that 95% of the time, being brave feels like absolute shit.

I feel like complete and utter shit right now. But bravery isn't an emotion, its an action.

Bravery isn't meant to feel good. Courage only exists in adversity.

This call for progressive philanthropy to stand firm is so important at this moment. It is imperative that funders do not ‘obey in advance’. Philanthropy has the resources and responsibility to fight for our communities and we cannot backslide into thinking this work is too ‘risky’ to fund.
