From what I heard from someone playing the game, it takes the Legends Arceus style of evolving Pokemon where you got into the menu and choose to evolve it. Pokemon didn't evolve automatically in PLA at level up, which was a nice QoL feature

Heads up to anyone getting the Deluxe:
Atari made the stupid decision to 1) make a steelbook case that DOES NOT hold a disk or a game card and 2) put the collector cards in that same steelbook without securing them so they bounce around in transit. Your cards will likely be all dinged up

I wish the place I got my gloves from was still around because they were really comfortable and had a lot of support. I know @auroralvisage.bsky.social used them as well, so maybe she has an alternative

Another thing: there's also Castlevania Legacy of Darkness. It's a semi-prequel/expansion to CV64 with two new characters. It's the "better" game of the two, but the CV64 characters have truncated story modes and no voice acting

It's just hella janky. Don't play it on Easy because the game ends like a third or halfway through on that difficulty and tells you to try again on Normal lol
