The people at CBECI were kind enough to send me a copy of their updated Bitcoin power consumption data
At the end of 2024, Bitcoin's total consumption for 2024 *did* end up matching that of Pakistan. 2024 saw the biggest jump in power consumption ever. Absolutely wild stuff ->

I think it’s important to analyze this activity in terms of power:
1. They are threatening current & future federal employees about what happens if they don’t follow orders
2. Creating openings for loyalists
3. Creating opportunities for privatization
4. Raiding for resources, money and info

Theories I’ve seen for why Musk etc are cutting federal jobs so randomly & irresponsibly are mostly (a) to replace jobs with AI, (b) to force privatization by breaking everything, or (c) sheer ignorance/incompetence. I suspect a mix of all 3, but the disregard for lives in the meantime is sickening.
