Well you see, Median Voter is very close to voting democrat. We just need to stay the course of appealing to Median Voter. 40 more years should do the trick.

Oh so we can’t get Castle Rock Season 3 but we can get whatever this is

Which is why the mythos around MAGA is that they represent a revolt against the elite who have allowed an outsider occupation. It’s a million times harder to get people to coalesce around a cold truth than a lazy fantasy. So at least protests chip away at the fantasy.

The alternative I guess is to wait until things get so dire it pierces the unreality of some contingent of MAGA and the apolitical?

Their whole thing is science illiteracy on top of unimaginable ignorance. Joe Rogan thinks a graph of global temperatures across billions of years disproves climate change because… the earth used to be hotter. Like this was a suppressed fact and not something you learn in 2nd grade.

The reason Klein’s ideas have been hastily adopted as the new Dem platform is because the democratic elite senses that the obvious path forward is for them to step aside, and Klein’s strategy promises that they won’t have to.

Kind of want to do one of those but at the seediest motel possible

Pisses me off that when they talk about Obama’s divisiveness their one example is a normal expression of empathy. They wanted so bad for it to be a cultural flashpoint (being charitable) they tried to make a murderer into a hero. That failed and now it’s just a thing that happened in a vacuum.

Got some bad news about a framework so regressive and bad it has to create false dichotomies to convince anyone of its viability

The algorithms are addictive and persistent. You’re starved of reality and fed something that goes down easier. It plays into nihilism—nothing matters and nothing is at stake. It presents as banal as team sports. But it’s inexcusable when it brings you to wish violence on your neighbors.

Ehh that’s more of an Acceptable Political Stance to justify the mass murder
September 10, 2025 at 6:43 PM
It’s like someone put a gun to his head and said, “quick, explain how Obama caused racism. Make it pedantic.” And then he shat himself and this is what came out.

Clearly Dem leaders will do anything to avoid a fight. Worse—they don’t want to associate with (or move out the way for) people who are willing. Because, what? It’s unappealing to the nebulous, ever reality-assimilating, “center?” It’s politics as usual until there’s nothing worth salvaging.

Goated stack of books right there

Genre fiction labeled, “literary” or “elevated” makes me suspicious. Like I already have one foot out the door when I start reading. Much prefer when an author is like, “here is my trash.” And when the trash has good prose and interesting insights, even better.

Worse, advancement in machine learning on those distinct use cases were already happening, but investment and emphasis has entirely shifted to these LLMs

The cult theory ignores that all Trump really did was bring together factions of the right which already existed, will continue to exist, and will come together again if they’re promised more cruelty and retribution. I’m not saying it’ll be as strong without him, but the impetus will remain.

You laugh but what is he supposed to do with his bulk shipment of t-shirts that read “Ask me about Kitchen Table Issues” now?

This thread is a good example of how political theorists helped get us to this point in the first place. This kind of Authoritarianism didn’t spring up overnight. For decades, it was actively encouraged by the right and nurtured by the left for the sake of “aim-for-the-center” coalition-building.

We’ve often asked, “who is generative AI made for? Like, who is interested in gobblygook spat out by machines that operate counter to human concerns?”And the answer is specifically this person
August 26, 2025 at 5:04 PM
It’s certainly worse now though because not only do people not understand how anything works or how they should work, after decades of historical revisionism they also don’t understand what’s at stake or how bad things can get. You’ll have people shrug and go “yeah, but how does fascism affect me?”
August 26, 2025 at 4:58 PM
These are just ranked by easiest to understand to hardest to understand. Just take the Republican talking points and message the opposite! “It’s a distraction” doesn’t even tell people you think it’s wrong or illegal. People already sense it’s wrong and illegal! Why would you downplay it?
August 24, 2025 at 7:07 PM
Maybe we do need little cartoon PSA explainers because this shouldn’t be this hard to understand
August 24, 2025 at 6:48 PM
You would think that would be obvious but that was before the internet was commandeered by a million devil’s advocates operating the trolley-levers with sadistic glee
August 24, 2025 at 6:23 PM
I don’t understand the conclusion the best path forward for Dems is to concede the point that not everyone deserves human rights. But I am just a big dumb idiot who thinks Dems lose when no one knows what they stand for and that the language of dehumanization is a rot that festers and spreads.
