Sounds like a direct continuation of Webster’s simplification work! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Webster...

@swilua.bsky.social Is there anyone whose put together like a descriptivist new English spelling phonetic rules (since you mentioned new slang tends to follow a more modern phonetics)?

It would be interesting to see text rewritten following new, more consistent phonetic rules.

Language shifts can be extremely rapid

Verbs, for example, regularize at a rate inversely proportional to the square root of their usage frequency

Years and years ago on my Mormon Mommy Blog I wrote about “slang” spelling & how it was just “spelling things how they sound”

It WERKS if you WERK IT
But we absolutely need a good spelling reform to update and simplify how English is written.

I asoom the most efectiv way to acheev this iz to just start dooing it.

Hoo’s in?

On 9/11, my high school history teacher was the one teacher who turned off the TV. She pulled down the world map and explained the history of Afghanistan (Soviet Invasion, USA arming Osama Bin Laden to fight Soviets, USA backing out of promises, etc.). Most useful info I got on 9/11 for years after.
