Director of Assay Development at URMC Mass Spectrometry Core Facility, Rochester, NY. Protein turnover is love, protein turnover is life.
I recently finished "Everything is Tuberculosis" by @johngreensbluesky.bsky.social and wow, he was right. Even my proteomics data is tuberculosis.

After @proteomicsnews.bsky.social 's SCP session at ABRF yesterday, someone from our genomics core asked me "are proteomics talks usually that interesting?"
How it felt as he was asking (we're slowly turning them to the dark side):

This may be an incredibly naive mass spec question, but what's a PSM for DIA data, particularly in Spectronaut? Is it simply referring to a confidently ID'd precursor?

We’ve run into a database search problem that maybe #TeamMassSpec could help with. Due to the massive file size of Astral (and timsTOF) runs, we need to change how we do the MS/MS database search section of our undergrad biochem lab (IP of two different fusion proteins expressed in E. coli).

Spreading the good word not just because I'm married to a librarian (who was geeking out when I sent her this ALA article) but also because libraries are just simply dope
Libraries are arguably the best thing the United states has going.

They are not just book collections. They are free public space, job finding lifelines, connections to family genealogy, vital resources for parents. Libraries should be funded, utilized, and universally accessible

If someone had told me 2 years ago that I would be optimizing methods on the newest and baddest mass spec, I wouldn't have believed them. #TeamMassSpec
