We're all about to become living archives, protecting history from a new revisionist uprising. I spent my life condemning personal experience as unreliable, but we betrayed the potential of archiving to use it to erase, not preserve. So keep the faith, stay angry, and stay hopeful.
been awhile since I felt a literal chill down my spine but this honestly scared the shit out of me

First of all, every single pregnant woman on Earth is stronger than Donald Trump. Trump has no business telling any woman to "tough it out". Second of all, again for those in the back: I will tolerate exactly zero fools discriminating against my family members.

@hcrichardson.bsky.social I suspect you would substantially enjoy renowned philosopher @theabigailthorn.bsky.social 's video essay regarding Thomas Jefferson! It would be the bees knees if you two had brunch or a collab.

When Trump's henchman Kennedy inevitably falsely claims that vaccines cause autism and implements a ban, I don't want to hear anyone in my presence fearmonger about autism, a common and valid neurotype. The double-tap of endangering my loved ones with vaccine denial and discrimination is NOT ON.

I immediately realised why Dr. Richardson didn't address the confrontation between Trump and the South African president: if he makes a white supremacist rant to a head of state, there's an unpopular emergency he doesn't want us to notice before it starts killing undesirables.

I will skip the Told You So if we can just Get Rid Of This Man.

Trans women ARE biologically women and no biased court can stop that basic fact from being true. Sex is a homeostatic property cluster containing an array of primary, secondary, and tertiary sexual characteristics. Trans people can and do change sex

I'm reading my old university essays while writing a new essay about whose job it is to make sense of words, the speaker or the listener.

I'm looking up these essays as an example because I was delightfully baffling at the age of 20 with not a few things to unpack about myself. Lol look at me go:

Story. My predominantly feminist and clever son has been accidentally falling down an edgelord rabbit hole in video algorithms and it has been a struggle. He's very receptive when I unpack the sexism etc. with him. Then, he recently described an old meme video that he thought was really annoying.

@lindsayellis.bsky.social I finally got around to reading the amazing Lindsay Ellis' book Axiom's End, and I happen to know the exact smile the author wore on her face when she described the main character's diner breakfast.

You enjoyed that didn't you. *high 5*

@hcrichardson.bsky.social Looking forward to seeing you in Vancouver, Canada! You're our date night.

Trump has started talking about rebuilding the US Navy. Call me paranoid, but do you think he could have a blockade in mind for Canada/Mexico trade?

The USA just began a new era of autism moral panic and I am holding my children close without telling them why.

Discrimination and pseudoscience has no borders.

I won't let my introversion stop me, I have to become an insufferable, sleepless titan of an angry dad. Fuck every enemy of science.

Heinz is a bit scared of the Canadian boycotts. I'm seeing ads advertising "A great-tasting Canadian ketchup". Look Americans, don't even start with us right now. Not this decade. Not about anything, not about healthcare, trans rights, bloody ketchup, NOTHING.

Am I missing the mark here, or is this absolute blue-bracelet energy?

This is not high on my priority list, but I'm disappointed that Justin Trudeau is almost out of chances to quote his father the former Prime Minister and say of another corrupt American president, "I've been called far worse by far better men."

I think of Mae Dean of Real Life Comics when I go to Vancouver's Science World, because it used to be run by Dr. Scott the Palaeontologist from Dinosaur Train, which Mae and her kids were apparently big fans of too. You can still find a full-sized cosmoceratops skull here.

Here's how old I am. Last Christmas I tried to get my Mom a musical album. My Mom told me those no longer needed to be a thing. She showed me it was on Spotify. But thanked me profusely for the thought.

A shame, I used to get my Dad Van Morrison stuff and my Mom Loreena McKennitt stuff.

This morning I told my worried son the unfree societies fail because they have to always resist the people until the lies collapse and the force fails. I said fairness always wins. I wasn't lying, but it's not automatic. Every time good prevails it's excruciating and some of us don't make it.
